Anirban Basu is the Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland with an office in Orlando, Florida.  The firm provides strategic analytical services to energy suppliers, law firms, medical systems, government agencies, and real estate developers among others.

Anirban Basu

Chief Construction Economist, Marcum LLP

Anirban Basu is the Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland with an office in Orlando, Florida.  The firm provides strategic analytical services to energy suppliers, law firms, medical systems, government agencies, and real estate developers among others. 

In 2014, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed him Chair of the Maryland Economic Development Commission (2014-2021).  He serves as Chairman of the Baltimore County Economic Advisory Committee.  He is also the Chief Economist to Associated Builders and Contractors, the Chief Economist of the Maryland Bankers Association, and Chief Economic Advisor to the Construction Financial Management Association.  He serves or has served similar functions for Visit Baltimore, Maryland Realtors, and Marcum, LLP.  

He has lectured at Johns Hopkins University, most recently in Global Strategy, and has also taught international economics, urban economics, micro- and macroeconomics at Hopkins. His radio show can be heard weekdays on 88.1FM, WYPR, Baltimore.   

In both 2007 and 2016, the Daily Record newspaper selected Mr. Basu as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people. The Baltimore Business Journal named him one of the region’s 20 most powerful business leaders in 2010.

Dr. Basu has been on many boards over time, including First Mariner Bank, the Baltimore City Public School System, Port Discovery, the Baltimore School for the Arts, and Union Memorial Hospital.  He is currently on the boards of the University of Maryland School of Law, St. Mary’s College, the University of Maryland Medical Center, the University System of Maryland Foundation, the Center for Emerging Media, the Lyric Opera House and the Archdiocese of Baltimore School System.

Dr. Basu earned his B.S. in Foreign Service at Georgetown University.  He earned his Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and his Master’s in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.  His Juris Doctor was earned at the University of Maryland School of Law.  His doctoral work was completed at UMBC with a concentration in health economics.

President & CEO - Laland Baptiste

Schillivia Baptiste is the co-founder and CEO of Laland Baptiste – a Construction and Program Management and Civil Engineering Firm. She has more than 20 years of experience in the civil engineering industry. She has particular expertise in site and land development. She has a strong understanding of the civil design process and has worked with clients in both the public and private sectors. Mrs. Baptiste is a New York and New Jersey licensed Professional Engineer. She has a bachelor’s degree from Polytechnic University and a master’s degree from Polytechnic Institute of New York University. She serves as President of the NY Chapter for Professional Women in Construction. She is an alumna and mentor of the ACE Mentor Program. She also serves on the International Board of Directors of the Polytechnic Alumni Association. She is a proud wife and mother of two boys. 

Carolina Cavalcante

President - Tilcon Connecticut Inc.

Carolina Cavalcante is currently President at Tilcon CT, a CRH Company. Her professional career with CRH began over 15 years ago as a Strategic Business Analyst in Atlanta, GA. She also had the opportunity to work in Amsterdam, Netherlands with CRH’s Europe Materials Division before returning to the United States as Sales Manager of Aggregates for Texas Materials.

Carolina holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Harvard Business School.

Carolina spent her early childhood living in several countries and was raised mostly in Brazil. She moved to Farmington, CT in May 2022 and enjoys spending her weekends with her husband and two boys, typically on a soccer field.

Eric Cushman

Vice President & Business Leader, Gilbane Building Company

Eric Cushman, Vice President, is the Business Leader for Gilbane Building Company in Connecticut, overseeing offices in Glastonbury and Stamford and many projects across the state. Eric began his career at Gilbane as an intern in 2007 and quickly excelled through training and technical field assignments. During his 17 years with Gilbane, he has succeeded in each step of his career, progressing through the ranks of project engineer, project manager, project executive, senior project executive, and Connecticut operations manager.

Eric Cushman

Vice President & Business Leader, Gilbane Building Company

Eric Cushman, Vice President, is the Business Leader for Gilbane Building Company in Connecticut, overseeing offices in Glastonbury and Stamford and many projects across the state. Eric began his career at Gilbane as an intern in 2007 and quickly excelled through training and technical field assignments. During his 17 years with Gilbane, he has succeeded in each step of his career, progressing through the ranks of project engineer, project manager, project executive, senior project executive, and Connecticut operations manager.

Eric’s expansive project portfolio includes projects for Slate School, Yale University, FactSet, Bank of America, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and other diverse clients. Eric has also led Gilbane’s national joint venture partnership with Nextera Robotics, managing Gilbane’s efforts to develop and scale a new AI platform delivered through autonomous robots.

Eric earned a BS in architectural studies from Philadelphia University and an MBA from Quinnipiac University. He is active and visible in the local community, including as a past Board Member and Mentor of the CT Chapter of the ACE Mentor Program, a Board Member of Riverfront Recapture, and a recipient of the Hartford Business Journal’s 40 under 40 award.

Joseph Natarelli is office managing partner in the New Haven, Connecticut office and a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. A specialist in accounting for construction contractors, Joseph also serves as national leader of Marcum’s Construction Services practice, overseeing audit, consulting, and taxation services to construction clients ranging from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar international enterprises.

He has extensive experience advising on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. He has served as a technical reviewer for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) construction audit and taxation guides for more than two decades and had the privilege of chairing the AICPA National Construction Program Conference Committee from 2012-2014.

Joseph is a valued advisor on diverse construction projects, providing expertise on improving job performance and enhancing profitability. He also provides thought leadership on various accounting and auditing matters as a conference panelist and contributing author to construction publications. He has been interviewed by numerous trade and business media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Businessweek, and Fox Business, among others.

Under his leadership, Marcum’s national Construction Services Group has innovated a robust curriculum of industry summits and technical webinars focused on helping contractors continuously enhance their understanding of complex financial concepts and strategic planning. He also spearheaded several definitive industry resources for contractors, including the annual Marcum National Construction Survey, the quarterly Marcum Commercial Construction Index, the Marcum PAS Contractor Compensation Quarterly, and the annual Marcum JOLTS Analysis of construction employment trends. Peter Scavuzzo

Peter earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Master of Science in Telecommunication Networks from Polytechnic University, which is now known as the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
