Louis Biscotti

National Leader, Food & Beverage Services Group - Marcum LLP

Louis Biscotti is the national leader of Marcum’s Food and Beverage Services group. He has been an entrepreneurial leader in accounting for over 40 years.

Mr. Biscotti has focused his efforts on improving his clients’ growth and profitability and has guided many companies in their development from small emerging entities into organizations worth hundreds of millions of dollars. While his clients represent a variety of industries, he is particularly well known for his work in manufacturing and distribution, especially with food and beverage companies.

Mr. Biscotti’s multi-disciplinary background as a CPA with an MBA that includes an advanced study in manufacturing, systems analysis, management consulting, strategic planning and technology, and his designation as a CITP (Certified Information Technology Professional), has earned him national recognition as an accounting and business management specialist.

He is a frequent lecturer and published author on various financial and business topics. He contributes a monthly column to Forbes, on the food and beverage industry. His expert advice has also appeared in both national and local publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, Long Island and New Jersey Business News, Supermarket News, and Food Dive. He is a featured panelist and speaker at local and national events, including the WCBS Annual Small Business Breakfasts, Bloomberg Radio, and the Capital Roundtable series.

Mr. Biscotti founded a series of best practice forums for food and beverage companies, which attract nearly 500 senior executives annually, as well as an annual food and beverage survey. He has been honored several times in “Who’s Who in Accounting” in Long Island Business News.

An active member of many local chambers of commerce, Mr. Biscotti served as a trustee for the Foundation for Accounting Education and was a board member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He is a former president of the Accounting Circle and an Executive Advisory Board member of St. John’s, his alma mater, and Molloy College. He also serves on the advisory boards for many of his clients, where the cumulative experience of his 40 years in practice and work with nearly 1,000 companies gives those clients an invaluable edge.

Brian Choi is Managing Partner and CEO of The Food Institute, the leading source for food industry news, data, and market trends. Brian is also an experienced financial executive in the food and agricultural industries. Earlier in his career, he served as VP of Finance and Business Development at Woerner Holdings, LP, a single-family investment office focused on private equity investments in the food, beverage, and agricultural industries.

Previous to Woerner Holdings, Brian worked at Ernst & Young, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs. Brian currently serves as an Advisory Board Member of the Rutgers Food Innovation Center.

Waqqas Mahmood

Waqqas Mahmood is a director in Marcum Technology’s Strategic IT Consulting group. He has been in the innovation space for almost two decades, helping organizations architect their digital future. Waqqas Mahmood is a director in Marcum Technology’s Strategic IT Consulting group. He has been in the innovation space for almost two decades, helping organizations architect their digital future. Mr. Mahmood believes in creating a culture of innovation that nurtures new technologies and media that promote powerful and engaging solutions. He has a strong background in digital product management, human-centered design, and business transformation.

Mr. Mahmood brings to Marcum a solid understanding of structured strategy consulting from his experiences in the digital advisory practices at “Big 4” accounting and other national professional services firms. Mr. Mahmood has advised clients on digital strategy, IT modernization, customer experience, business process optimization and innovation, and has influenced mission-critical decisions by demonstrating strategic business needs and areas for operational performance improvement. He has hands-on technical program management experience and a solid track record of collaboration with colleagues, technology vendors, and partners.

Carlos Olea

Chief Financial Officer - The Howard Hughes Corporation

Carlos Olea is Chief Financial Officer for The Howard Hughes Corporation, with direct oversight of the company’s accounting, technology and innovation, investor relations and risk management.

Mr. Olea joined HHC in 2017 and was named Chief Accounting Officer in 2019, overseeing the financial accounting strategy for the company’s portfolio during a time of outstanding growth. Prior to joining HHC, Mr. Olea served as Chief Accounting Officer at Carr Properties, a Washington, D.C.-based owner-operator and developer. Previously, he was a Senior Manager with the Advisory Services practice of Ernst and Young and a Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting with AvalonBay Communities in Arlington, Virginia.

Mr. Olea has a Master’s in Real Estate degree with a concentration in finance from Georgetown University, and a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from ITESM, in Mexico.
