Ron Angelo

President & Chief Executive Officer, Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT)

Ron Angelo has over 35 years of experience guiding strategic business planning and operations, fostering financial growth, and steering process improvement in public and private companies, governmental entities, and entrepreneurial organizations. Ron’s expertise in and passion for leading-edge technology and advanced manufacturing led him to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT), which he has held since 2013.

Jeff Crandall

Senior Manager, Additive Technologies, Optimization & Machining Lab, CCAT

Jeff Crandall has an unparalleled passion for and expertise in additive manufacturing. Pushing the boundaries of what is possible through this technology, he demonstrates a deep understanding of its principles, applications, and potential impact across various industries. With a focus on applied research and development, he has been instrumental in establishing and expanding the organization’s additive manufacturing portfolio, programs and technologies, positioning the lab as a center for technology demonstration, validation and transfer. His skills extend to additive manufacturing technology education and consulting, where he designs and delivers workshops and training programs at local, regional, and national levels.

Jackie Garofano, Ph.D.

Chief Technology Officer, CCAT

Dr. Garofano is the driving force behind the organization’s growing technology portfolio at the Advanced Technology Center. With an unwavering dedication spanning nearly three years, she has led the development and expansion of innovative programs and partnerships nationwide, championing advanced, additive, and digital manufacturing. Prior to joining the executive team, she spent nearly a decade at RTX where she began her career as a research scientist at United Technologies Research Center after earning a doctorate in materials science and engineering from UCONN. She has twelve publications and hold three U.S. patents.

Nasir Mannan, M.Eng.

Principal Engineer, Advanced Design, Automation & Metrology Lab, CCAT

Nasir is an accomplished engineering professional and entrepreneur (owner of M3DI) with nearly two decades of experience driving manufacturing technology innovation in advanced engineering software, model-based definition, digital twin, automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and 3D scanning technologies. His primary focus lies in spearheading the development and seamless integration of Industry 4.0 technologies within manufacturing companies. Through strategic and national initiatives, he contributes significantly to propelling the U.S. supply chain forward. Nasir holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Amy Thompson, Ph.D.

Chief Talent & Training Officer, CCAT

Dr. Thompson is the visionary leader of the organization’s Talent & Training Accelerator, home to the DoD-funded Digital Thread Lab. Prior to joining the executive team, she was an Associate Professor-In-Residence of Systems Engineering and Associate Director for the Pratt & Whitney Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering at UCONN. Her interdisciplinary teaching and research merge the fields of energy-efficient and intelligent facility design, manufacturing systems engineering, model-based systems engineering and digital engineering for product development, supply chain design and operation, and engineering education. She holds a doctorate in industrial & systems engineering from the University of Rhode Island.
