Proposition 19 – Taking Advantage of the Favorable Tax Exclusion Before it Expires
Overview
California voters passed Proposition 19 by a slim margin in last month’s election. Currently there are two exclusions from reassessment between parents and children, but those will be eliminated in just two short months. Effective February 16, 2021, transfers of California real property between parents and children could have the property tax reassessed leading to an increase.
