International tax specialists from Marcum will present at the weekly Venture Café Thursday Gathering to share insight and perspective around some of the many international tax considerations startups that are coming to Miami from around the world should consider.
The presentation will look to put these frequently ignored regulations and strategies into a practical business perspective to illustrate the long-term impact they could have for a growing company.
The discussion will place special attention on the technology oriented startups.
Mark Chaves, CPA

Mr. Chaves is the Co-Leader of International Tax Services for Marcum. He assists clients with domestic and international tax planning and structuring, mergers and acquisitions and business reorganizations. His focus is on working with multinational corporations to manage cross border direct and indirect tax issues, foreign tax credit and repatriation planning, reorganization of expatriate and inpatriate tax matters, and ASC 740 reporting. In addition, he assists individuals with international estate planning, inbound tax structuring of investments in U.S. real property, and pre-immigration planning, as well as with cross border tax issues and filings for FINCEN compliance.

Ms. Hodge specializes in advising multinational clients on the US aspects of international taxation. Her expertise includes tax implications of cross-border business transactions; structuring business entities; minimizing global tax exposure, and efficient repatriation of earnings. Ms. Hodge is a tax attorney and well versed in tax issues, including tax withholding, foreign tax credits, and foreign income sourcing, facing multinational business entities.
